Meet Annabelle Davis, Sales Apprentice at Sytner Nottingham.
How long have you been an apprentice at Sytner BMW/MINI? I’ve been an apprentice since November 2020. We spent the first month working from home on Digital Reception and then we were in the business from December 2020.
What made you apply for an apprenticeship role with Sytner? My mum found the advert online and sent it through to me. I had never considered working in Sales before but it was something my dad had always said he thought that I would be good at. After training in musical theatre and acting, it wasn’t ever something I thought I would end up doing, but due to Covid and the uncertain times I was looking for a job in Nottingham, after I did a bit of research into the company, I applied.
What advice would you give to someone looking to apply for an apprenticeship? The best piece of advice I could give is to make sure that you are prepared to work hard. Whatever you are willing to put in, is what you will get out. Be open to learning and enjoy it!
What does an average day look like for you? An average day for me now is VERY different to when I started. At the beginning I was doing a lot of shadowing, learning the process and best practice. Now, my day looks very similar to all the other Sales Executives, except I still have allocated hours where I can do my written work/studying. It involves chatting to customers, following up leads, driving very nice cars, selling products and finance and of course making money!
What is your favourite part about your current role? There are so many great parts to being a Sales Executive. I have an amazing team who are such a joy to work alongside but most of all I love the excitement of customers coming to collect their new cars. It’s such a big thing for so many people and it’s lovely to get to be part of that.
What is your greatest achievement? I think my greatest achievement to date would be when I got my first professional acting job, coming out of drama school the pressure is huge, from your peers, agent and even family to get a job in the industry. When I got the call, I immediately cried – I was in the queue for the Derren Brown ride at Thorpe Park at the time.
