Meet the Apprentice.
Be inspired to start your career.
Meet Haydn Ryan, Parts Apprentice at Sytner Coventry.
How long have you been an apprentice at Sytner BMW/MINI? I have been an apprentice with Sytner BMW/MINI for 9 months
What made you apply for an apprenticeship role with Sytner? I applied for an apprenticeship with Sytner because I was interested in the automotive industry and felt that Sytner was the best retailer to develop my career with, due to their large dealership network. Not only this, Sytner’s careers website also had very positive feedback from employees and I was enthusiastic about Sytner Group’s ethos to developing talent and building careers from within.
What advice would you give to someone looking to apply for an apprenticeship? I would advise all people looking to apply for an apprenticeship to do it! Everyone is considered individually, regardless of experience. If you can show you are capable and have a forward thinking and positive attitude then that is all you will need.
What does an average day look like for you? An average day for me includes working alongside the Service Department, based in the Workshop Control office, to complete vehicle health checks quickly and efficiently. The goal of my role is to price up any additional work correctly so that the Service Advisor can sell work to the customer whilst their vehicle is still in the workshop. This reduces customer wait times and allows us to improve our service. Another part of my role is to go through all the service bookings and ensure we have all the parts required for a job in stock. This aids us in ensuring we get things right first time.
What is your favourite part about your current role? My favourite part of my role is being the bridge between Service and Parts. It is great seeing the departments run alongside each other and the whole aftersales process becoming more seamless.
What is your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement is being given all the responsibility that comes with my role at the end of my first week with Sytner. It is rewarding to know that I am believed in!
