Meet Natalie Jordan-Taylor, Apprentice Technician at Sytner Sheffield.
How long have you been an apprentice at Sytner BMW/MINI? I started at Sytner on the 29th March 2022.
What made you apply for an apprenticeship role with Sytner? I was an Apprentice Vehicle Technician at my last job but I relocated, and then when I saw this opportunity at Sytner come up, I knew straight away I wanted it. Plus I knew I’d get the best training possible.
What advice would you give to someone looking to apply for an apprenticeship? Go for it, it’s the start of a great career. As long as you’re passionate and committed that is.
What does an average day look like for you? I start the day off with the other apprentices by making sure workshop duties are done, such as empty oil drainers and bins, refill brake fluid machines, refresh mop buckets. Then throughout the day I could be working with my mentor with jobs or I could be carrying out independent jobs such as services, health checks, PDIs or the odd diagnosis job.
What is your favourite part about your current role? The fact that I’ve good team around me to help and support me with my learning and development.
What is your greatest achievement? Probably diagnosing an EML light by myself. By carrying out a quick test and from the fault, carrying out a service function, to then carry out a smoke test to check for any leaks (which there was). Then checking voltage on the pins and then removing the swirl flap controller to find the rod to the intake manifold to be snapped.
