BMW i4 is here and we are very excited to tell you about it

The i4 is BMW’s first-ever fully-electric gran coupé and it certainly makes a statement. From the looks, technology and sheer impressive numbers, the i4 is a car that sets the bar for quality and luxurious motoring in a new electric world.
From the outside, the i4 is instantly recognisable as a BMW, with its large kidney front grille, precise LED lights and the all-important blue and white badge. However, when you look closer, you start to see what makes the i4 that bit more special. The large kidney grille for example is mostly covered, housing a range of sensors to watch the road ahead which allows the car to feedback data to help everything from changing cruise control settings to regenerative braking to provide a relaxed, worry-free drive.
Those looking at the M50 model will be treated with sharper lines, M division inspired door mirrors, an aerodynamics package, 19-inch alloys and M inspired interior, making this a through and through BMW M car, set to stand beside any petrol-powered equivalent.
Sliding into the sports seats, which come as standard on all i4s, you’re rewarded with a comfortable, driver-focussed experience with luxury materials wrapping every surface in sight and all the controls laid out perfectly for fuss-free driving pleasure.
Taking centre stage inside the i4 is BMW’s latest and greatest iDrive system, which is arguably one of the best around. Housed inside two screens, one 12.3-inch driver’s display, set next to a larger 14.9-inch centre display, this iDrive system allows you to control every aspect of your drive. With the latest iDrive also comes one of BMW’s newest toys, a virtual assistant. The new virtual assistant, which you can name, allows you to control temperatures, cabin behaviours, navigation and so much more, all you need do is ask, and BMW will facilitate.
The rest of the cabin lives up to the Gran Coupé name, with plenty of rear-seat space for adults and children alike, with fold-away ISOFIX points for keeping your smallest safe. Heading further backward, the boot is a handy 470 litres, perfect for suitcases, pushchairs and anything else you might need on a long, comfortable drive.
Like many BMW cars, there are different trims available, each with different powertrain options, battery capacities and power figures.
The i4 starts with the eDrive40, this model is powered by a single rear motor producing 340 horsepower and capable of propelling you to 62mph in a swift 5.7 seconds. It also has an 80kw battery which gives the car the ability to travel up to 365 miles on a single charge. But, with a 200kW capable charger, you can charge from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.
If you’re after the best of the best, then the range-topping i4 M50 will have you grinning every time you take to the roads. Powered by dual motors giving you four-wheel drive, this model has 544 horsepower available, capable of serene 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds. Yet, even with all this extra power available, the M50 can achieve 318 miles on a single charge and, if you recharge the battery at a public IONITY high-power charging station, you’ll charge from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.
