Sytner take Top Spot at Best Companies
We’re incredibly proud to announce that at the recent 2017 Sunday Times’ Best Companies Awards, we were named as No.1 Best Big Company to Work For in the UK – the eighth year in succession where we have achieved a Top 5 position in the competition.
Announced at the 2017 Sunday Times’ Top 30 Best Big Companies to Work For ceremony in London, the awards recognise companies for their efforts in creating a workplace where employees feel positive and motivated. The Sunday Times Survey analyses employee engagement of the top companies in the UK based on their Best Company Index scores, as voted by employees. To qualify companies must employ at least 3,000 full time staff.
Speaking of this fantastic achievement, Darren Edwards – Chief Executive – said:
“I am very proud that the “One Team” ethos at Sytner Group has been recognised by the Sunday Times. Having engaged colleagues is fundamental to our success, they underpin the success of our whole business and it is great that our hard work has been reflected in our 1st place position. This is a fantastic accolade for everyone at Sytner”
Focusing entirely on employees, each year the results are determined by a survey that is sent out to all members of staff, completed in confidence and then submitted directly to the Sunday Times. This year, we’re incredibly happy to say that, of the eight factors considered by the survey, we gained top-10 scores in all of them – leading the rankings for ‘My Company’ and ‘Personal Growth’ for the second consecutive year.
Complementing our first place finish in the Best Big Companies to Work For category, we’re also very proud to say that we gained a special award for Innovation in Engagement. This award recognises our efforts to change the perception of the sector through, amongst other things, our dealerships’ links with local schools, presentations about career opportunities within the trade and arranging workplace tours & work experience for young people.
We’re incredibly proud of not only these recent fantastic awards but also our commitment to taking part in the awards for over 11 years and our continual appearance within the Top 5.
Commenting on the importance of employee engagement, Darren Edwards went on to say:
“I am particularly proud of the special recognition award we also received for employee engagement. As a Group we continually aim to develop and encourage personal growth, promote from within wherever possible and have a consistent focus on developing new strategies to keep our colleagues engaged in all aspects of the business”
