Meet the Apprentice.
Be inspired to start your career.
Meet Mark Lomas, Sales Apprentice at Sytner Sheffield.
How long have you been an apprentice at Sytner BMW/MINI? I have been working as an apprentice for 16 months.
What made you apply for an apprenticeship role with Sytner? The chance to work for the BMW brand is what struck me first and then as I read on and more about it the potential to build a wildly successful career.
What advice would you give to someone looking to apply for an apprenticeship? Even if you don’t think you will be accepted, even if you don’t think you’ll make it through to interview and even if you think your CV will be laughed at. Apply. I was that person and here I stand today. Everyone’s skills are valued at Sytner, how do you know yours wont be?
What does an average day look like for you? First thing is to be involved in the morning sales meeting, what happened yesterday and what's the plan for today. As an apprentice the showroom is your responsibility, to ensure that our “store front” looks as good as it can. Next would be to shadow the Sales Executives and learn as much as you can. Once you become more confident and have gained some skills you will have your own customers to follow up and speak to. Every day is different however and you will never be bored.
What is your favourite part about your current role? My favourite part of the role is incredible people, cars and facilities that we have access to. There really is no other job like it.
What is your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement was to be invited by the Head of Sales to run the launch of the BMW M4 and present, which we did digitally to our M car customers.
