The BMW 5 Series Touring, representing the pinnacle of driving enjoyment, elegant athleticism, and contemporary functionality within the premium mid-range category, is embarking on a new chapter. Its sixth generation is more forward-thinking than ever, integrating a wealth of digital advancements, groundbreaking features for automated driving and parking, heightened sustainability across its entire lifespan, and, notably, introducing an all-electric variant with the BMW i5 Touring. This latest iteration of the BMW 5 Series Touring serves as a refined all-purpose vehicle for daily commuting and leisurely journeys, delivering a blend of chic presence, enhanced athleticism, adaptability, and ample interior comfort.
The front end of the vehicle showcases a contemporary take on the iconic twin headlights and BMW grille, with two nearly vertical LED elements serving as direction indicators and daytime running lights, respectively. The BMW grille, extending prominently forward, is optionally equipped with BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting on the M Sport Pro model. From the side, the sleek window graphics and elongated roof spoiler underscore the sporty and elegant 2-box design. Boldly sculpted rear wheel arches, paired with the flat rear window, accentuate the car's wide stance. Additionally, an L-shaped chrome bar separates the LED rear light elements, which extend into the side sections.
In the UK, the BMW 5 Series Touring introduces a Sport Edition for both Saloon and Touring models. This variant provides an entry into the BMW i5 range, boasting standard features like 19” light alloy wheels and Phytonic Blue Metallic paint, alongside expected comfort and sportiness. It includes unique exterior styling with satinated aluminium finishes, an M Anthracite Headliner, and Sun Protection Glass. The modern interior features a Veganza two-spoke steering wheel, an Interaction Bar, and Harmon Kardon sound system. Additionally, the BMW i5 eDrive40 Sport edition comes with AC Professional Charging for up to 22kW charging as standard.
The driving experience in the new BMW 5 Series Touring is characterized by a harmonious blend of sportiness and comfort. Its longest wheelbase in its competitive segment, wide track widths, and nearly perfect 50:50 axle load distribution, along with intelligent lightweight construction and optimized body-chassis connection, create an ideal foundation for this balance. The extensively upgraded suspension technology, which includes sport steering, directly controlled wheel slip limitation, and the latest integrated braking system as standard, further enhances driving dynamics. Additionally, the BMW i5 Touring and plug-in hybrid models come equipped with rear-axle air suspension, featuring automatic self-leveling, adding to the overall ride comfort and stability.
The latest BMW 5 Series Touring provides increased space and significantly enhanced leg, shoulder, and elbow room, particularly in the rear, along with improved acoustic comfort. Its adaptable interior and array of intelligent features ensure it excels both on the road and in everyday practicality.
Central to the modern, driver-centric cockpit design is the BMW Curved Display. Consisting of a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch Control Display, it creates a seamless fully digital display network. Enhancing the contemporary premium atmosphere inside the cabin are the newly introduced standard sports seats, the flattened-bottom steering wheel, and the BMW Interaction Bar.
The updated BMW iDrive display and operating system, powered by BMW Operating System 8.5, introduces a revamped home screen and the "QuickSelect" quick access feature. Seamlessly integrating the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, it offers intuitive touchscreen and natural language interaction. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps, while the optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds the BMW Head-Up Display and augmented views on either the Control Display or the instrument cluster.
Complementing the infotainment system are various digital services in the new BMW 5 Series Touring. The Connected Package Professional provides access to YouTube and the Video app, featuring international and country-specific streaming content on the Control Display. Additionally, the updated BMW iDrive enables innovative in-car gaming via the AirConsole platform.
