Alison Holland, Receptionist/Host at Sytner Sheffield, answers our Women in Business questions.
How long have you worked for Sytner BMW/MINI? Just over 3 years.
How long have you been in your current role? 3 years although the role has changed, now I am solely customer focused with being based on the front desk.
What is your favourite part about your current role? I enjoy that many different people from all walks of life visit Sytner on a daily basis. I get to engage with them on the front desk or over the coffee bar and help provide solutions to their issues or enquiries and point them in the right direction whatever their needs are.
Three words to describe yourself? Personable, Engaging and Honest.
What is your greatest achievement? Having my two children. And getting my job at Sytner after being a Beauty Therapist for 30 years. This was a massive step for me at nearly 50 to have a total career change.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to be in your role? You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so always aspire to be your best. SMILE and always be ready to help.
Top tip for how you organise your days? Always clear my emails from the previous day. Post it notes are a must just for an easy reminder. Be punctual.
Top tip for working in the automotive industry? Smile and never judge a customer.
